Come and Support the Toll Tiwi Bombers this Saturday

Round 9 Saturday 29th November 2014

The highs and lows of sport? The Toll Tiwi Bombers followed their great win on the island with an excellent first half against the Darwin Buffaloes only to be over-run in the second half.

Full credit to the Buffaloes who played an excellent brand of hardworking team football.

It is easy to blame fitness but we are 8 rounds into the season. Attitude is the more likely problem causing inconsistency and with that possibly a lack of competitive hunger apparent 2 seasons ago?

It was great to see 3 time Club leading goalkicker Gerard (Muna) Cunningham get back amongst the goals with 4 and late replacement and former Best & Fairest Rupert Pupangamirri back to his vigorous best as he regains confidence.

The Toll Tiwi Bombers best players showed why they are so highly rated in their southern leagues. Josh Finch who was close to Best on Ground has represented Victoria Country and has won multiple league Best & Fairest Medals. Veteran Paul Scanlon is amazing with his guile and cleverness. Paul won the Chaney Medal for the Grand Final Best Player on Ground in our 2012 Premiership win.

Many thanks to Toll Tiwi Bomber Coach Willie Rioli Snr and Co-Captains Ross Tungatalum & Aussie Wonaeamirri for helping draw the winning numbers-all 100 tickets were sold. Great contribution by Mick Burns PA Tanya Hollamby. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket or became part of syndicates.

Injured Captain–Disappointing to report that the knee injury current Co-Captain and 2012

Premiership Captain Shane Tipuamantimirri suffered in Round 4 against Nightcliff requires a major reconstruction operation. It is scheduled tomorrow in Adelaide and initial diagnosis suggests a 12 month recovery for our 33 year old legend. Tippa is sitting on 147 career NTFL games. He played in a Waratah NTFL Premiership before playing SANFL football and then in a WAFL Premiership with South Fremantle. Our thoughts are with a very disappointed Tippa and his family.
