Round 11 Newsletter Monday 15th December 2014

When you lead by 10 points with all the momentum 13 minutes into the last quarter only to have a free kick well off the ball stop you in your tracks it doesn’t get much more frustrating.

A huge game in the context of the season but the result means we are going to have overcome the odds to play finals – where there’s life we are a chance! “Mathematically” we are alive-just!

There were still many positives with Mathias Liddy the standout in the absence of key forwards Ross Tungatalum, Roy Kantilla and Gerard Cunningham. Mathias kicked 6 of the total of 12 goals scored with 3 rippers from outside the 50 metre arc.

Mathias is a great example of a player gaining belief and confidence from being given a regular senior game and has performed at full-forward, centre half forward and centre half back this season.

First season recruit Josh Finch was great in the midfield as was Tiwi 2012 Premiership player Kristan Height in the midfield and defence. Island based first season defender Torin Petrie was motivated by the presence of his southern based parents and played a great game. He works at the Nguiu Garage.

Willie Rioli Junior has had leg soreness but should be back this week against the Tigers.

Roy Kantilla has shoulder soreness and is unlikely until January.

Gerard Cunningham has a foot problem and should be available after Christmas.

Premiership Captain Shane Tipuamantimirri has had the first stage of a knee reconstruction operation and will complete the procedure in 8 weeks. He had Lars surgery several years ago and that collapsed on him in Round 4. It is a 12 month recovery period so at best Tippa will return 2016.

Tim Bongetti has had shoulder surgery in Melbourne but may be available mid January.

Albert Tipungwuti has a calf injury and may be back after Christmas

SANFL Tryout
Willie Rioli Jnr will travel to Adelaide on January 11 to do 2 weeks of pre-season with SANFL club Glenelg. A Territory Thunder player last season Willie has declined an invitation to re-join them.

Although this is the second last newsletter for 2014 the Club would like to acknowledge the fantastic group of volunteers and support staff for both of the Toll Tiwi Bomber teams in the 2014/15 Season.

The Board wishes everyone and our loyal Members a wonderful Christmas and a Very Happy, Safe and Successful New Year in 2015

See you all at Marrara on Saturday
